Readahead

It’s been a labour of love getting Readahead going.

My Uncle, a school teacher in the UK designed this fantastic reading system many years ago now.  About 10 years ago he asked if I could design some software to demonstrate it and help teach the system to not only children, but anyone with reading difficulties or learning English as a second language. SPLAT – entertainment for toddlers

As a software developer with toddlers I write the odd bit of software to see if I can grab their attention.

While my older boy enjoys more interesting computer activities (e.g. http://www.poissonrouge.com) my 2 year old envies him and longs for something she can do herself.  Enter “Splat”.  Hit any key and lots of sounds, shapes, colours and the key you hit comes up on the screen.

Utterly pointless but they seem to love it.  Just don’t look for any redeeming educational value.  I have other things for that, which I’ll post later.

Download here, then double click the .jar file to run it.  You’ll need Java installed.
